CD Projekt decided to expand its internal structures again. The company has just confirmed the purchase of The Molasses Flood studio, which includes many experienced creators. This is a very interesting move.
CD Projekt has just announced the acquisition of The Molasses Flood, an American studio. The creators from Boston have been working on various productions since 2014 – the company includes developers responsible for, among others: Bioshock, Halo, Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The studio is known for the survival games The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow.
Adam Kiciński, President of the Management Board of CD Projekt, commented on the situation with the following words:
“We’re still looking for teams that share our values and culture and want to make great games with us. The crew of The Molasses Flood is an ambitious and experienced team that focuses on quality and has technological know-how. I am convinced that they will bring a lot of talent, ambition and determination to the company. “
The transfer is very interesting, however, as The Molasses Flood will not become the next division of CD Projekt RED. The creators will “work closely with CD Projekt RED”, but at the same time will retain full autonomy.
Developers will be given the opportunity to develop “their own project based on one IP CD Projekt”, so we can suspect that the authors will develop a smaller production from the Witcher or Cyberpunk universe.
A few words from Forrest Dowling, Studio Head of The Molasses Flood:
“From the beginning of The Molasses Flood, our goal has been to create games that inspire others. Cooperation with CD PROJEKT is an opportunity for us to reach players all over the world and at the same time an opportunity to cooperate with the studio and the brands we love. We are very excited to be able to continue our game development mission with CD PROJEKT. ”
