Call of Duty games dominated the sales charts for PS4 and PS5 games
According to Sony, Call of Duty games have been the best-selling games on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for the last ten years . The document published by the CMA indicates that only in 2021 Call of Duty Vanguard did not maintain its leading position, but it was still ahead of such productions as Fortnite or FIFA.
The document emphasizes that in the years 2017 – 2021, players spent billions of hours playing Call of Duty productions on PlayStation consoles. Sony also points out that the last premiere, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, brought in a profit exceeding one billion dollars in the first ten days after its release.
All this information is to make CMA officials aware that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft may not only result in blocking access to Call of Duty games on PlayStation consoles, but also deprive Sony of a large source of income.
