At the beginning of the year, Blizzard Entertainment announced that it was developing a game in a new universe. The project is allegedly being created over four years and its early version was played for “many hours” by the head of the company, Mike Ybarra .
It is officially known that the game is being prepared in the survival genre, but Blizzard Entertainment did not provide more details. Jez Corden managed to find out the details of the project, and the journalist was quick to share them with The Xbox Two podcast.
The insider notes that the information is based on a build that is several months out of date, so some data may be incorrect. Internally, the untitled game is codenamed Odyssey . It is visually similar to Everwild , but aesthetically it is reminiscent of Fable Legends .
Blizzard Entertainment’s new development is a standard “survival” with building mechanics and traditional elements, including the use of a bow, arrows and lots of magic. It’s not an MMO like ARK: Survival Evolved , but it also uses a first-person perspective.
Players will be able to sell things created similar to Fallout 76, for example, open a potion shop and offer them to other users. The game world contains several complex fantasy machines, real “steam tanks” built with the help of alchemy.
When and on what platforms the new Blizzard Entertainment project will be released is not reported. Jez’s account of the Odyssey can be heard at 02:42:10.
