Hellena Taylor, the actress who played Bayonetta in the previous two installments and other products, will be replaced by Jennifer Hale, the voice of Samus Aran in Metroid Prime.
Yusuke Miyata, director at PlatinumGames, confirms in a recent interview that Hellena Taylor , the voice actress who lent her voice to the Umbra Witch in Bayonetta , Bayonetta 2 , Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the animated film called Bayonetta: Bloody Fate , will not return for the third numbered installment of the hack and slash saga that will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on October 28. We recall that the development studio has shared numerous details of Bayonetta 3 in recent weeks, including information about its history and a complete gameplay that delves into new game mechanics and characters.
“Various overlapping circumstances made it difficult for Hellena Taylor to reprise her role,” says game director Yusuke Miyata. “We held auditions to cast the new voice of Bayonetta and offered the role to Jennifer Hale, whom we felt was a good match for the character. I understand the concerns some fans have about the voice change at this point in the series, but Jennifer’s performance was way beyond what we could have imagined. I’m confident that her portrayal of Bayonetta will exceed our fans’ expectations.”
What other roles has Jennifer Hale played?
It’s a shame Taylor didn’t get a hand in concluding the Bayonetta trilogy, but Hale isn’t a bad alternative at all considering the roles he’s played in the past in the world of video games. Among her best-known interpretations of her we can find Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect saga , although Nintendo fans also remember her for lending her voice to Samus Aran in the three Metroid Prime video games developed by Retro Studios.
