PlatinumGames may have been commissioned to prepare more games for Nintendo. Hideki Kamiya commented on Bayonetta 3’s ending and mentioned a sequel. It is very possible that the Japanese are already developing Bayonetta 4.
At the end of October, another PlatinumGames game debuted exclusively on Nintendo Switch – Bayonetta 3 turned out to be a hit and the title received a lot of praise from journalists from around the world. The item eventually scored 86%.
[SPOILER BEWARE OF BAYONETTA 3’S ENDING]
At the end of the adventure released in October, we see the probable death of the main character of the series, and new-blood appears in her place. The developers emphasized the beginning of the “new generation”, which was perceived by many players as an idea to prepare a new installment with Viola in the lead role.
Hideki Kamiya decided to react and apparently the fans misunderstood the Japanese suggestion:
“I don’t think it was unexpected, but it seems like the ending of Bayo 3 wasn’t received properly, so I think Bayo 4 will be an unexpected event for everyone.”
The Japanese decided to basically … Publish an alibi to emphasize that he had actually thought about this idea before (before the release of Bayonetta 3), and it was not caused by the reaction of the community:
“Finally, when Bayo 4 comes out, I’m sure there will be people who will say, ‘You added this as an aftermath,’ so I’m saying it now.”
The message may seem enigmatic, but I have the impression that PlatinumGames wanted to test the fans’ reactions through the ending, and if the community reacted positively to the change of the protagonist, this is what we would see in the new game. However, the creators can freely develop various threads in this IP, so it is very possible that Bayonetta will return.
At the same time, I have the impression that the most important thing here is something completely different – Hideki Kamiya openly mentions the next game in the series.
“I think we’re in for some unexpected events…please wait…”
