Assassin’s Creed Mirage in Ubisoft’s initial plans was to be an expansion of Valhalla, as confirmed by creative director Stephane Boudon.
Stephane Boudon, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage , has confirmed that the game in some ways was born from an offshoot of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla , as it was originally intended to become a DLC for the latest installment of the Ubisoft series.
According to Boudon, in the very early stages of development Mirage was thought of as an expansion of Valhalla, but that Ubisoft subsequently saw the potential to create a complete standalone game that marked a return to the origins of the series.
“Yes, we started working on Mirage with the initial idea that it was going to be a Valhalla DLC and it was very different at the time,” says Boudon in an interview with Game Rant. “That idea only lived for a few weeks and only on paper, in fact. Quite early, we decided to become a standalone with a full new character because we saw all the potential of such a return to the roots. And it was all pretty quick.“
For the more attentive Assassin’s Creed fans, Boudon’s statements are nothing new but rather a confirmation of the rumors shared by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier in February of this year , when the game was still known by the code name at the time. ” Rift “.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently in development for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PC and Amazon Luna, with a release date yet to be determined.
