In an interview with the latest issue of PLAY Magazine (issue #19), Asobo’s lead level designer Kevin Pinson told reporters that the studio has extended the playthrough time for the A Plague Tale sequel . According to Pinson, Requiem’s story campaign will run between 15 and 18 hours.
It is worth noting that the words of the developer are based on his own pace of the game, so it may take less or more time for individual users, it all depends on their skills. However, the campaign is nearly double the length of the original, leading some to think that the studio deliberately delayed the game.
However, Kevin immediately denied all speculation, saying that the publisher represented by Focus Interactive, on the contrary, encouraged the team and asked them to choose the length of the campaign on their own . According to Pinson, there is no empty content in A Plague Tale: Requiem added to the game for show. Also, the team did not attempt to make the game deliberately longer, since it was not necessary for them.
“It’s about pacing, there’s no filler, there’s no trying to make it longer because we needed to. Our publisher Focus Interactive encourages us to do the length that we want to do for the game for the story we want to tell. So we’re not aiming for a specific amount of hours. This is not something that we take into account when we first design the game. We are a small team of 70 people so we have to be really drastic about our choices”
It’s great to see the studios give enough leeway, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds next month when A Plague Tale Requiem releases October 18 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
