At the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2022, the developers of The Callisto Protocol showed two new gameplay clips of the horror, and after that, they shared some details of their game on the PlayStation blog.
Horror includes 200 thousand individual sounds, as the authors rely heavily on them to create a frightening atmosphere. 60 of these sounds are unique to the protagonist’s hazmat suit.

In the blog, the developers also explained how enemy mutations work, which could be seen in the gameplay from Opening Night Live. Enemies, former prisoners of the Black Iron prison, are infected with an unknown virus, which manifests itself in the form of tentacles growing out of the body.
These tentacles can sprout from where severed limbs grew from, and if the player shoots at them in time, this will quickly deal with the enemy. If you delay, the tentacles will cover the body of the enemy and he will mutate, becoming much more dangerous.
As the authors showed in the gameplay, The Callisto Protocol is not limited to horror alone, and there are enough action moments in the game, such as, for example, with a sudden descent through a sewer tunnel.
The Callisto Protocol is scheduled to release on December 2nd for two generations of PlayStation and Xbox, as well as PC.
