In the second season of the Netflix TV series of The Witcher we will see a greater number of fights with monsters than in the books, because they are particularly popular in video games.
In Season 2 of the Netflix TV series of The Witcher we will see the Witcher face more monsters than the books. The reason? Basically because people liked the fighting in games starring the Witcher, like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, according to showrunner Lauren Hissrich.
In an interview published in the latest issue of Sci-fi and Fantasy magazine, Hissrich explains that in the book ” Blood of the Elves “, on which the second season will be based, there are actually not many fights with monsters and that the authors have decided to add them in quantity in the TV series as they are particularly appreciated by those who have played the titles of CD Projekt RED.
“For instance, Blood of Elves lacks monsters. There’s just not very many,” Lauren Hissrich explains. “But we know from the games that people really like to see Geralt battling monsters, so we continued adding more monsters to Season 2.”
Obviously, as much as a good fight is always a pleasure to watch, the hope is that the authors do not put too much pressure on the hand, risking distorting the narration of Sapkowski’s works.
Season 2 of The Witcher will debut on Netflix on December 17th, with the third season already confirmed.
