Earlier this week, fans of “The Witcher” were informed that the work on the set had to be discontinued. The reason was Henry Cavill was infected with the coronavirus. It was not known how long the break would be, but it can be speculated that the actors have already returned to the set. Some of them have seen behind-the-scenes footage on social media.
The cast and crew of Netflix’s The Witcher were scheduled to kick off the final month of production in August, filming their most ambitious sequence: the Thanedd coup. The vast majority of the actors were to be involved in the scene, including Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill.
The plans got a little bit different. On Monday, July 25, production was to continue after a weekend break, but no shooting took place. Redanian Intelligence has learned that Henry Cavill has contracted the coronavirus.
“The Witcher”: The actors returned to the set
Netflix commented on the situation, saying the cast and crew would return to the set “when it’s safe”. Several actors seem to have confirmed their return to work, reports Redanian Intelligence. Mecia Simson (Francesca), Cassie Clare (Philippa) and Harvey Quinn (the undisclosed magician) shared photos on their social media showing that they are back on set.
It’s not yet clear if Henry Cavill is back on set, but even if he hasn’t, there are still plenty of scenes to do without Geralt of Rivia’s involvement.
One of the actresses who can shoot more scenes is Anya Chalotra. Even though she is closest to Henry Cavill on set, she has confirmed that she has not been infected with the coronavirus. In recent days, she has celebrated her birthday with friends.
“The Witcher”: When is the third season’s premiere?
Work on the set of Season 3 began in April. So far, no official release date has been given, but it can be assumed that it will be 2023.
