The show finished recording in November, but reshoots began recently.
Against all odds, the live-action series of The Witcher was a resounding success with audiences and, more surprisingly, had favorable reviews. With this good reception, it was to be expected that Netflix would give the green light to multiple projects related to this production; from more seasons to a prequel. The latter, however, seems to have fewer episodes, unfortunately for fans.
At the end of Season 2 of the series starring Henry Cavill, the streaming service confirmed the existence of The Witcher: Blood Origin , a show that will serve as a prequel to the main show. This project finished its recordings in November 2021, but it seems that in April of this year it entered the refilming stage.
Of course, it is worth noting that it is normal for productions in the entertainment industry to undergo new recording sessions weeks or months after the original filming concluded. Is it good or bad that this happens? Of course, that depends on each project.
IN TROUBLE? THE WITCHER PREQUEL SERIES WOULD HAVE FEWER EPISODES, ACCORDING TO REPORT
Although the changes that The Witcher: Blood Origin underwent remain to be seen, reports indicate that those responsible reduced the number of episodes from 6 to only 4. It is also up in the air if the release date, which remains a mystery. At the time of writing these lines, it underwent changes.
If the number of episodes were actually reduced, it is possible that a lot of material from the original recording sessions will be left out of the final footage. However, it is also possible that the chapters are longer.
Of course, reports indicate that the reshoots were intended to add more continuity with the main series. Also, it seems that Jaskier will have more screen time due to the good reception he had in the series starring Henry Cavill; it is possible that this character narrates the events of the prequel.
There are still many doubts that revolve around this production, so we will have to wait to discover more official information.
