Legendary writer Stephen King reveals the epic crossover he’d like to see where he pits Predator against some of his characters.
The movie Prey , which can currently be seen on Disney Plus , is being liked a lot and that is why they compare it with the original installment of Predator from 1987. But it also shows the potential of the saga and how we could put the human-hunting alien in any context and time. Stephen King has taken advantage of this to ask for a crossover with Children of the Corn .
In his social networks , Stephen King has started the debate saying: “How about this for a movie idea? CHILDREN OF THE CORN VS. PREDATOR. You’d just need the right star.”
Would you like them to make that movie? It really is a great idea, plus you have to remember that this story also has a brutal being that could even be more dangerous than a Predator .
What is Children of the Corn about?
Children of the Corn (advertised as Stephen King’s Children of the Corn) is a 1984 American supernatural slasher horror film based upon Stephen King’s 1977 short story of the same name. Set in the fictitious rural town of Gatlin, Nebraska, the film tells the story of a malevolent entity referred to as “He Who Walks Behind the Rows” which entices the town’s children to ritually murder all the town’s adults, and a couple driving across the country, to ensure a successful corn harvest.
The film is directed by Fritz Kiersch and features a strong cast led by Peter Horton, Linda Hamilton, RG Armstrong, John Franklin, Courtney Gains, Robby Kiger, Anne Marie McEvoy, and Julie Maddalena . With a budget of about $800,000, they proved that Stephen King ‘s horror appeals to people in any format. Since they raised about 14 million dollars only in the United States.
The franchise is very extensive.
As with the Predator saga , many sequels have been released. As the story continues in Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992), Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995), Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996), Children of the Corn V: The Fields of Terror (1998), Children of the Corn 666 – Isaac Returns (1999), Children of the Corn: Revelations (2001), Children of the Corn: Genesis (2011) and Children of the Corn: The Getaway (2018 ). Then they tried to restart everything with the remake titled Children of the Cornof 2020. Not forgetting that they made a television version in 2009. So, if Stephen King has charged for the rights to each film, this saga will have given him a lot of money. So it is normal that he wants to continue exploiting the story by making an epic crossover with Predator.
What other horror characters would you like to see take on the alien hunters? What do you think of Predator against IT (Pennywise), Cthulhu, the Critters or that they arrived on Earth millions of years ago and fought against a Tyrannosaurus Rex? The possibilities really are endless! Leave us some ideas in the comments section.
