Kantemir Balagov was supposed to shoot the pilot episode of the series with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, but he wrote on his Twitter that there would still be no series of it.
The director clarified that he left the project “more than a year ago” due to creative differences. Who ultimately filmed the pilot of the TLOU series has not yet been specified.
Balagov completed filming the pilot episode of the series at the end of August 2021. It is not known how the producers will dispose of his material and whether there will be a pilot episode in the show.
Kantemir Balagov did not leave Hollywood. He set to make his English-language feature debut with Butterfly Jam, with Ari Aster’s Square Peg Partners and Alexander Rodnyansky’s AR Content on board to produce.
The Last of Us TV series is due out in 2023. The first season will have 10 episodes. Filming of the series ended in June 2022.
