Dynamo Pictures is a computer animation studio that has worked on many video games, series, movies, and other projects. The purchase will close in October 2022.
The fact that Nintendo has made it clear that it does not intend to join the industry acquisition race does not mean that it will not make purchases to continue expanding in directions further away from video game development: the Japanese company today announced the acquisition of Dynamo Pictures , a computer animation studio (CGI, for its acronym in English) that they intend to absorb completely when the deal closes in October 2022.
Established in 2011, Dynamo Pictures is a company specialized in the creation of computer animations and has participated in many projects , both related to the world of video games ( Death Stranding , Persona 5 or Dark Souls III , among many others that appear on your profile by MobyGames ) as well as with other means. He has worked on movies, series, video clips and even virtual reality experiences for well-known sagas such as Resident Evil , Mega Man or Ace Attorney . Starting October 3At which point the purchase is expected to close, this studio will go on to create video content exclusively for Nintendo.
Dynamo Pictures will change its name to Nintendo Pictures
As a result of this “shareholder change”, as described by the studio itself on its official blog , and the associated exclusivity agreement, Dynamo Pictures will change its name to Nintendo Pictures . This is how the change of direction is reflected: from that moment they will only create content with Nintendo licenses, they explain in the statement.
Nintendo has also shared this news through its official channels with a document in which we can read the intention to buy 100% of the shares of Dynamo Pictures with the aim of “strengthening the planning and production structures of visual content in the Nintendo group. In that same document we read that the capital of this company is 34.5 million yen , which at the exchange rate in Spain would be around 250,000 euros. This purchase will have “minimal effects” in the fiscal year of the big N, they say in the document.
Other Nintendo acquisitions
This is Nintendo’s latest acquisition at the moment. Earlier, in February of this year , it already notified the purchase of SRD Co. Ltd , a regular partner who became part of its development teams. To find the company’s previous acquisition we have to go back to 2021, when they bought Next Level Games , developers of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Mario Strikers: Battle League Football.
