The director of ” Guardians of the Galaxy ” and last year’s ” Suicide Squad” could direct the film adaptation of the cult series of stealth action games Hitman , but his ideas were rejected by the producer. James Gunn spoke about this in correspondence with fans.
According to the director, before starting work on the first ” Guardians of the Galaxy “, he developed the concept of a film adaptation of the adventures of Agent 47, but the project did not work out, which, however, the director considers a good outcome.
“The studio really wanted to hire me, but a producer on the project did not. I was bummed then, but thank God, because I would have never been able to do GotG if they had said yes!” James Gunn said.
In 2017, James Gunn revealed that the reason he was turned down from the project was because the producers at the time didn’t want to make a Hitman movie with an adult R rating.
The first film adaptation of Hitman, starring Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47, was released in 2007, and the second film hit the screens in 2015. In it, the image of a bald killer with a barcode on the back of his head was performed by the star of the series “Motherland” Rupert Friend.
