In season 4 of “Stranger Things”, Hopper is hard to recognize as the bearish police chief from previous series. David Harbor revealed the backstage of his metamorphosis, which he passed into the role.
When we first met Hopper, he was quite a powerful sheriff with thinning hair and stubble. In the 4th season of ” Stranger Things ” we saw him in a completely new edition. Bald, no facial hair, and definitely slimmer. David Harbor talked about his metamorphosis.
Stranger Things season 4 – David Harbor on his transformation
The actor posted a special post on his Instagram about his transformation. As he emphasized, the metamorphosis required a huge amount of work and cooperation with personal trainer David Higgins.
Many of you have asked about Hopper’s physical transformation from season 3 to season 4. My trainer @davidhigginslondon worked with me for 8months to make the transformation, and then another year to keep it through the pandemic. All told it was a difficult and exciting ride, changing diet and exercise plans (or lack thereof).
Harbor wrote that in total it lost nearly 36 kilograms. He started out with a weight of about 122 kg, and by the time of recording season 4 he weighed just over 86 kg.
All told I lost over 75lbs. 265-270 in season 3 and all the way down to 190 when we shot. Recently ballooned up again to play jolly ole st. Nick in a flick I can’t wait for you to see this holiday season, so I am struggling to fight back down towards a good weight for wherever hopper ends up in season 5. All this up and down is not good for the body, and I’ll have to give it up soon, but it is such a fun part of the job to live in a different version of your skin for a while.
We kind of know where Hopper will land. In the season 4 finale, the hero, along with Joyce ( Winona Ryder ), returned to Hawkins and, as the creators revealed, this will be our place of action . And when will we see the final episodes? In one of the interviews, Harbor suggested that the team should make the premiere by mid-2024.
